Feed Industry HACCP Training Course Available Through Texas A&M
Feed Industry HACCP Training is being offered by Texas A&M University, Office of the Texas State Chemist, at the Radisson Plaza Hotel, Fort Worth, Texas, May 17-19, 2005. The university and the feed industry have worked together on this course to educate those interested in adopting "Voluntary HACCP".
The training objective is to equip participants with the necessary skills to build a HACCP plan. The course is designed for state feed control officials and feed industry personnel with responsibility for developing their companies HACCP plans, such as personnel in quality assurance, production, receiving, nutrition, purchasing and engineering. Targeted industries include ingredient suppliers (e.g. animal protein, vegetable protein, vitamins, minerals) and premixes, as well as manufacturers of finished feed and pet food.
Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) in the feed industry utilizes a process approach directed toward ensuring food safety. While not a regulatory standard for the North American feed industry, an increasing emphasis on the adoption of HACCP by food processors and export customers necessitates the use of this technique by all sectors of the feed industry to retain their competitiveness.
Registration for the course is $450. Hotel reservations should be made directly with the hotel at 817/870-2100. Mention the Feed Industry HACCP room block for a discount rate of $96 per night.
For registration forms and additional information, contact Ms. Pat Chaffin, Office of the Texas State Chemist:
